In Loving Memory of Duane Winter
Yesterday, May 5, 2024, we said goodbye to one of Fitness FX’s most vibrant souls, Duane Winter. It’s with heavy hearts that we bid farewell to a beloved member whose presence illuminated our gym for years.
For many of us, stepping into Fitness FX meant encountering Duane – a larger-than-life figure with a smile that could light up the room and a laugh that echoed through the walls. From the moment you crossed paths with him, you were greeted with warmth and openness. Duane had a knack for making everyone feel welcome, regardless of who they were or where they came from, if you needed something he would always offer his support.
Those who knew Duane will undoubtedly remember his trademark sewn sleeves, his little blue workout bag filled with candy and gum But beyond the surface, Duane was also a pillar of integrity, always ensuring that our gym operated smoothly, when I wasn’t there I knew that etiquette would always be followed.
At 5 pm, when the gym would buzz with energy, Duane’s absence will be felt deeply. Yet, we take solace in knowing that his spirit lives on in the countless memories, hilarious stories, and epic 50-rep workouts that he shared with us. So when we see each other this week lets remember the good times, and continue doing what we all love and train to be a better version of ourselves in memory of Duane, it’s what he would want.
It’s telling that whenever former members run into me, their first question is always, “Is Duane still there?” That question alone speaks volumes about the profound impact he had on each and every one of us.
Personally, I’m grateful for the opportunity to have shared a recent conversation with Duane, a cherished two-hour chat that I’ll hold close to my heart.
Duane, you may have left us physically, but your spirit remains etched in the fabric of Fitness FX. We will carry your memory with us always, striving to embody the warmth, kindness, and passion for life that you brought into our lives.
Rest in peace, dear friend. You will be deeply missed.
If you’ve got a story about Duane I think we would all love to hear it!
